About This Role
FlightSafety International is hiring a Houston-based Flight Instructor to provide ground and simulator instruction for pilots completing core, specialty, and enrichment training. The instructor will prepare curriculum-supporting materials, evaluate trainee progress, maintain accurate training records, address client training issues, and maintain regulatory instructor qualifications. The position requires an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member-state ATPL, an unrestricted PIC type rating, and compliance with applicable U.S. regulatory, export-control, security-clearance, and physical-work requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support delivery of the applicable curriculum and meet client needs.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress and recommend qualification or additional training.
- Complete accurate client-specific training records to support each trainee's success in achieving the requested objectives.
- Identify client training issues and seek assistance before execution.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirement is stated.
- Applicants must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- The required qualifications are an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License from an ICAO member state, with an alternative pathway requiring compliance with 14 CFR Part 61.153 and 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- Applicants must also hold at least one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred experience includes FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience, along with 2,500 hours of total flight time.
- The role requires knowledge of aviation safety standards and common aviation regulations, the ability to manage classes and teach effectively, first-level facilitation and customer-service skills, and the ability to be coachable and receive feedback.
- Physical requirements include using hands and arms for controls, reaching and manipulating rudder or anti-torque controls with both feet, operating simulator controls from the instructor's chair, entering and exiting the simulator via a ramp, moving around the classroom while instructing, and exiting a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
- Required vision includes close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and may work near moving mechanical parts, at height, outdoors, and around wet conditions, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
- Employment is contingent on compliance reviews, including OFAC sanctions screening, and the position may require eligibility to access ITAR- or EAR-controlled technology and to obtain and maintain a U.S.
