About This Role
FlightSafety International is hiring Flight Instructors for an October 2026 event at its Columbus Learning Center. The instructor delivers ground and simulator training to aviation clients across core, specialty, and enrichment courses; prepares curriculum-aligned training materials; evaluates trainee progress; maintains accurate training records; addresses client training issues; and keeps instructor qualifications current under applicable aviation regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support delivery of the applicable curriculum and meet client needs.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending qualification or additional training as appropriate.
- Complete accurate, client-specific training records to support achievement of the requested objectives.
- Identify client training issues and obtain assistance before execution when necessary.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- The work may involve classroom instruction, simulator operation, moving between instructor stations and podium areas, and responding to simulator malfunctions, along with the physical demands and exposure to mechanical, weather, chemical, electrical, radiation, and vibration hazards described in the posting.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirement is stated.
- Applicants must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety International's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- The required credential is an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- Applicants without an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 61.153 and 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- At least one unrestricted PIC type rating is required.
- Preferred qualifications include FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience, plus 2,500 hours of total flight time.
- Candidates should understand aviation safety standards and common aviation regulations, manage classes and teach effectively, demonstrate first-level facilitation and customer-service skills, and be coachable and receptive to feedback.
- The role also requires the physical ability to operate simulator controls with both feet, reach and manipulate controls from the instructor station, enter and exit the simulator using its ramp, move between classroom instructional stations, and exit a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
