About This Role
American Flight Schools is recruiting full-time and/or part-time Flight Instructors to serve as the club’s primary representatives and the face of aviation for students learning to fly. Under the general direction of the Chief Flight Instructor, the role delivers high-quality instruction under an approved syllabus, maintains a strong safety culture, ensures compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures, and models the organization’s standards of professionalism, communication, punctuality, competence, and approachability. Instructors are expected to have a lasting positive influence on students through their conduct, opinions, customer service, and demonstrated flying skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Under general direction of the Chief Flight Instructor, conduct high-quality flight instruction in accordance with an approved syllabus
- hold students to a high standard of safety
- and ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, company policies, and company procedures during student training. Adhere to the approved flight-training syllabus, maintain flight proficiency in each aircraft used for instruction, and improve aeronautical knowledge and flying skills through continuing education and operational experience. Maximize each student’s training investment by arriving on time and fully prepared for every lesson. Promote company events, products, and services when appropriate
- provide exemplary customer service
- and respond promptly to voicemails and emails. Attend all monthly CFI meetings, complete an annual club CFI checkout with the Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, follow all club policies and standards, and use the online scheduling system correctly. Instructors may also be required to perform additional duties outside their normal responsibilities as operational needs arise.

Requirements
- Applicants are expected to meet the club’s high standards of knowledge, experience, proficiency, professionalism, safety awareness, communication, punctuality, and interpersonal conduct
- these standards exceed FAA requirements and not every applicant will qualify. The application must include a cover letter, an up-to-date resume showing flight times and experience, and copies of the applicant’s pilot and instructor certificates together with a current medical certificate. Candidates who pass the initial qualification review will undergo complete background checks, a ground interview with the Chief Flight Instructor and/or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, and a flight interview with the Chief Flight Instructor and/or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor.
