About This Role
FlightSafety International, a professional aviation training company, is hiring a Flight Instructor at its Columbus, OH learning center. The instructor delivers ground and full-flight-simulator instruction to pilot clients in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety's training principles, supporting core, specialty and enrichment training courses.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support delivery in accordance with the applicable curriculum and client needs.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress and recommend candidates for qualification or additional training.
- Complete accurate, client-specific training records that aid clients in achieving their objectives.
- Identify client training issues and seek assistance prior to execution.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Applicants must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program. The license requirement is an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member-state Airline Transport Pilot License
- if the applicant holds no ATP, they must instead meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required. Preferred qualifications include FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience, and 2,500 hours of total flight time. The role also calls for knowledge of aviation safety standards, practices and common aviation regulations, the ability to manage classes and teach effectively, first-level facilitation and customer-service skills, and coachability. The position carries significant physical demands (operating rudder/anti-torque controls with both feet, reaching simulator controls from the instructor chair, entering and exiting the simulator including from a severely pitched attitude, and lifting up to 25 pounds). Employment is contingent on export-control compliance under ITAR/EAR — including qualifying as a U.S. Person or being otherwise eligible for export authorization — and may require eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance.
