About This Role
FlightSafety International is seeking a DFW-based Flight Instructor to deliver ground and simulator training to pilots enrolled in core, specialty, and enrichment courses. The instructor will prepare curriculum-supporting materials, evaluate trainee progress, maintain accurate client training records, address training issues before execution, and preserve instructor qualifications in accordance with applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. The role involves classroom instruction and operation from an instructor station within a simulator environment, supporting clients in achieving their requested training and qualification objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare training materials that support delivery and meet client needs under the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress and recommend qualification or additional training.
- Complete accurate training records for each client to support achievement of the requested objectives.
- Identify client training issues and seek assistance before execution.
- Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirement is specified.
- Applicants must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- The position requires an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- Applicants without an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required.
- Preferred qualifications include FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience, as well as 2,500 hours of total flight time.
- Candidates should understand aviation safety standards and common aviation regulations and be able to manage classes, teach effectively, facilitate at a first level, provide first-level customer service, remain coachable, and receive feedback that supports development.
- The role also requires the physical ability to operate rudder or anti-torque controls with both feet, manipulate simulator controls, enter and exit the simulator via its ramp, move between instructional stations, and exit a simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
- Required abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The position may involve standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor conditions, chemicals, temperature extremes, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
- Employment is subject to compliance reviews, OFAC screening, export-control eligibility under ITAR and/or EAR, and potentially obtaining and maintaining a U.S.
- Government security clearance.
