About This Role
FlightSafety International is hiring a Flight Instructor in Atlanta to deliver ground and simulator flight instruction for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training. The instructor prepares training materials aligned with client needs and applicable curricula, evaluates trainee progress, recommends qualification or additional training, completes accurate client records, identifies training issues before execution, and maintains instructor qualifications under applicable regulations. The position supports FlightSafety's professional aviation training operation, which serves commercial, government, and military organizations through flight simulators and other training programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Flight Instructor delivers exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles. Responsibilities include conducting pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment courses
- developing and preparing training materials that support delivery and meet client needs within the applicable curriculum
- evaluating and measuring trainee progress and recommending qualification or additional training
- completing accurate client-specific training records to support the requested objectives
- identifying client training issues and seeking assistance before execution
- and maintaining instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- The position requires the ability and willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program. Applicants must hold an unrestricted ATP certificate or an Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state. Applicants without an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 61.153 and 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. At least one unrestricted PIC type rating is required. FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience is preferred, as is 2,500 hours of total flight time. The role also requires knowledge of aviation safety standards and common aviation regulations, effective class management and teaching, first-level facilitation and customer-service skills, and the ability to receive coaching and feedback. Physical requirements include manipulating rudder, anti-torque, and simulator controls
- entering and exiting the simulator via its ramp
- moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium
- and exiting a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude. The position requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, focus adjustment, and the ability to regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds. Employment is subject to compliance reviews, including OFAC sanctions screening, and the position may involve ITAR/EAR export-controlled technology or services, U.S. Person or export-authorization eligibility, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
