About This Role
StarFlyer is hiring two mid-career flight crew members for a captain-candidate position. The initial workplace is Kitakyushu Airport or Haneda Airport, with training at the Kitakyushu Airport facility; the immediate assignment is flight-crew operations, the company may designate another work location, and transfers may occur. Applicants must have captain experience at a Japanese scheduled airline and at least 1,000 hours of PIC time in jet aircraft, together with the required JCAB pilot certificate, Aviation Radio Operator licence, Class 1 aviation medical certificate, and Aviation English proficiency at Level 4 or higher. Applicants under 60 may be hired as permanent long-term employees, while applicants aged 60 or over may be hired as flight-crew contract employees through 31 March 2027, normally renewable annually until age 68. Work is shift-based under a monthly variable-hours system averaging no more than 40 hours per week, with overtime, and selection includes document screening, interviews, a technical skills test, final selection, and a web aptitude assessment.

What We Offer
Pay is determined under company rules based on job duties, required qualifications, years of practical experience, and previous employment history, with individual details explained at interview. Allowances include flight-duty, overtime, holiday-work, and late-night-work allowances. There is a regular salary increase under company rules and an annual pay revision in April. Bonuses are availablethe company reports two FY2025 payments, in summer and winter, but may withhold bonuses depending on business performance. Employees receive 121 annual days off, approximately 10 per month, annual paid leave, maternity and postnatal leave, childcare leave, nursing-care leave, and full social insurance covering health, employees' pension, employment, and workers' compensation. Smoking is prohibited onboard, while the policy at other workplaces varies by location.
Requirements
- Required qualifications are prior experience serving as a captain for a Japanese scheduled airline, at least 1,000 hours of PIC time in jet aircraft, a JCAB Airline Transport Pilot certificate, an Aviation Radio Operator licence or another licence recognized as equivalent or higher, a valid Class 1 aviation medical certificate, and Aviation English proficiency certification at Level 4 or above. Former StarFlyer flight crew members with previous operating experience for the company may also apply. For the application, candidates must use the company's designated résumé form, attach a photograph taken within the previous three months, and submit the résumé as a PDF rather than Excel or an image file. The package includes an A4 portrait-format career history in a free format and Aviation Experience Record Form No. 22, covering instructor or check-pilot experience at the previous employer, a captain qualification allowing a right-seat first officer to perform takeoffs and landings, and other captain-related qualifications.
