About This Role
Westair Aviation is seeking skilled and experienced First Officers to join its Johannesburg, South Africa flight crew for F406/C425 operations. The role is responsible for the safe and compliant operation of the aircraft, passenger and crew safety and comfort, flight planning and navigation, aircraft handling, emergency response, coordination with operational personnel, accurate flight records, and continuing professional development. The posting requires a valid CPL and lists minimum total-time, PIC, multi-engine, and multi-engine PIC experience figures; however, the published multi-engine figures contain an internal inconsistency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The First Officer will operate the aircraft in compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards
- conduct pre-flight inspections
- review flight plans and weather conditions
- communicate with air traffic control
- navigate during flights
- perform take-offs and landings
- manage aircraft systems and controls
- respond to emergencies and take appropriate safety actions
- work closely with co-pilots, cabin crew, and ground personnel to support smooth operations
- maintain accurate flight activity records and complete required reports
- and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a valid CPL License.
- The posting lists a minimum of 1,000 hours total time, a minimum of 500 hours total PIC time, 100 hours of multi-engine experience, and 200 hours of multi-engine PIC experience.
- These figures are reproduced as published, but the 200-hour multi-engine PIC requirement exceeds the stated 100 hours of total multi-engine time, creating a contradiction that prevents the hour thresholds from being safely assigned to structured fields.
- Candidates must apply by 30 September 2026.
