About This Role
Westair Aviation is recruiting experienced Captains and First Officers to operate F406/C425 aircraft from Johannesburg, South Africa. The role requires safe, compliant aircraft operation, preparation for each flight, effective communication and navigation, management of aircraft systems during take-offs and landings, emergency response, coordination with operational personnel, accurate flight records, and participation in continuing training and professional development. Captain applicants must meet a 1,000-hour total-time threshold, while First Officer applicants must meet an 800-hour threshold, with additional PIC and multi-engine experience requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate F406/C425 aircraft in compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards.
- Complete pre-flight inspections and review flight plans and weather information before departure.
- Communicate with air traffic control and maintain effective navigation throughout the flight.
- Conduct take-offs and landings while managing aircraft systems and flight controls.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and take all necessary actions to protect passengers and crew.
- Coordinate with co-pilots, cabin crew, and ground personnel to support smooth and safe flight operations.
- Maintain accurate records of flight activities and fulfill reporting requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements
- Captain requirements: valid CPL license, a minimum of 1,000 hours total flight time, at least 500 hours total PIC time, 100 hours of multi-engine experience, and 200 hours of multi-engine PIC experience.
- First Officer requirements: valid CPL license, a minimum of 800 hours total flight time, at least 500 hours total PIC time, and 100 hours of multi-engine experience.
