About This Role
Westair Aviation (Pty) Ltd is recruiting Captains and First Officers for ERJ 135/145 operations based in Windhoek. The company seeks skilled and experienced pilots to operate its aircraft safely, comply with applicable regulations, and protect the comfort and safety of passengers and crew. Applications are invited by 30 September 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the aircraft in compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards
- conduct pre-flight inspections
- review flight plans and weather conditions
- communicate with air traffic control
- navigate during flights
- perform take-offs and landings
- manage aircraft systems and controls
- respond to emergencies and take necessary safety actions
- coordinate with co-pilots, cabin crew, and ground personnel to ensure smooth flight operations
- maintain accurate flight activity records and complete required reports
- and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements
- Captain — ERJ 135/145: a valid ATPL License
- a required ERJ 145/135 type rating
- minimum 3,000 hours total time
- P1 experience on the ERJ with at least 500 hours PIC
- and a minimum of 1,500 hours total PIC on multi-engine turbine or jet aircraft. The Captain must be willing to travel extensively in Africa for periods of 6–12 weeks, and preference will be given to Namibian citizens.
- First Officer — ERJ 135/145: a valid SACAA or NCAA CPL/ATPL License
- a required ERJ 145/135 type rating
- minimum 1,000 hours total time
- at least 100 hours on type
- and at least 100 hours on multi-engine turbine aircraft. The First Officer must also be willing to travel extensively in Africa for periods of 6–12 weeks, with preference given to Namibian citizens.
