About This Role
Wasaya Airways, the First Nations owned airline serving northern Ontario, is hiring a full-time Flight Attendant based in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, in its Flight Operations department. Flight Attendants are responsible for the safety, comfort and well-being of passengers, enforcing safety regulations and assisting in emergencies. The posting is open until filled; Wasaya gives preference to Indigenous peoples.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete all duties and responsibilities for passenger safety and comfort in accordance with the approved Wasaya Airways Flight Attendant Manual and company policies
- During an emergency, follow the instructions of the captain
- Complete all required safety announcements and demonstrations
- Plan, direct and control the service as required
- Successfully complete all required Flight Attendant Training
- Foster a healthy working environment and promote a positive climate within the workplace
- Perform and uphold Wasaya's Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
Requirements
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required
- Superior customer service skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain Airport Security Pass
- Professional and neat appearance
- Reliable transportation to and from airport
- Excellent computer skills, MS-Office preferable, proficient in use of internet and email
- Able to work in a team environment, as well as unsupervised
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally
- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
- Previous Flight Attendant experience is an asset
- The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset
- Previous airline experience is an asset
- Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset
