About This Role
United Airlines, the world's largest airline with over 30,000 active flight attendants, is recruiting Flight Attendants to join their rapidly expanding team. This entry-level position requires applicants to be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma/GED and at least one year of customer service experience, with no prior aviation experience necessary. Successful candidates will undergo comprehensive 6.5-week training in Houston and be assigned to one of seven major hubs. The role offers industry-leading pay starting at $37.10/hour with progression to $100.13/hour by 2030, comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), flight privileges worldwide, and a $1,000 training completion bonus.

Requirements
  • Minimum 21 years of age at time of application
  • High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college preferred
  • At least one year of customer service experience in service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, social service)
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Proficiency in a second language highly desirable (Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog)
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
  • Effective communication in high-stress situations (aircraft evacuation, security threats, medical emergencies, severe weather)
  • Professional appearance and excellent grooming standards
  • Willingness to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines
  • No tattoos on head, hands, fingers, neck, or behind ears
  • Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet permitted if smaller than credit card (3.5 x 2.24 inches) or covered
  • No offensive tattoos (violent, obscene, sexual, racist, or weapons-related)
  • No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in mouth
  • Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops)
  • Valid passport with 12 months validity remaining prior to expiration
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, and lift heavy objects up to overhead bins
  • Ability to push and pull beverage cart up to 250 lbs
  • Ability to pass functional reach assessment with combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach
  • Ability to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, holidays
  • Ability to pass DOT drug screen and background checks
  • Ability to pass evacuation drill in water (pool) during training
  • Ability to pass 10-year background check including criminal history
  • Hearing and vision requirements: no hearing loss greater than 40 dB at 500, 1000, 2000 Hz; each eye 20/40 or better corrected
  • No medical or recreational marijuana use
