About This Role
JetBlue is seeking a First Officer based in Orlando to support the Pilot in Command and help ensure every flight is operated safely, consistently, and in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, JetBlue policies, procedures, and risk controls. The role combines flight operations, customer service, teamwork, safety reporting, regulatory compliance, continuous training, and active support of JetBlue’s Safety Management System and company values.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The First Officer assists the Captain in delivering a safe flight outcome, operates the aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and JetBlue policies, and helps provide an excellent experience for customers and crewmembers. The role requires maintaining all required skills, training, and qualifications
- working with JetBlue crewmembers and business partners to resolve customer and operational challenges
- understanding and following JetBlue’s Safety Management System, Safety Policy, Security Policy, behavioral standards, and risk controls
- and identifying and reporting safety, security, incident, and hazard concerns through available reporting systems such as ASAP and SAR. The First Officer must fulfill assigned safety accountabilities, support JetBlue’s safety goals as a Safety Ambassador, comply with applicable FAA, OSHA, DOT, and company requirements, maintain professional attendance and punctuality, remain available for flexible or short-notice work, and assist with light aircraft cleaning when requested and time permits. The role involves normal cockpit and ramp exposure, airport operations, non-traditional schedules covering a 24-hour flight operation, availability for any schedule, time away from home for up to six consecutive days, and occasional extended workdays during irregular operations.
Requirements
- Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED
- a valid FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate with airplane category and multiengine class ratings that is unrestricted
- 1,500 hours of total flight time, including at least 500 hours in fixed-wing airplanes
- a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- and a valid FCC Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit. Applicants must hold a qualifying U.S. passport or U.S. permanent residence card with the required foreign passport and visas for unrestricted travel to JetBlue destinations, with at least six months of passport validity remaining at application. Candidates must provide three reference letters from pilots who can attest to their flying skills, communicate effectively in written and spoken English, use common computer, browser, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, iOS, and electronic tablet tools, read required manuals, solve problems, think creatively, work effectively in teams, follow uniform appearance standards, and work reserve duty, weekends, evenings, holidays, varying schedules, and last-minute drafting. The position requires a valid U.S. driver’s license and compliant driving record, successful completion of a ten-year background check and pre-employment drug test, legal eligibility to work in the United States, and no visa sponsorship. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, recommendations from current JetBlue pilots, 3,500 or more total aircraft flight hours excluding simulator and Flight Engineer time, more than 1,000 hours of fixed-wing turbine PIC time, more than 1,000 hours in aircraft using EFIS and/or FMS, and more than 200 hours of recent flying experience in the last 12 months.
