About This Role
The First Officer role supports safe flight operations in Tocumen by monitoring operating conditions, confirming that required aircraft and safety equipment is available and serviceable, completing the navigation portion of the operational flight plan, and ensuring compliance with the applicable AAC regulations. The posting requires a commercial pilot licence with instrument and land multi-engine ratings, certified English and Spanish proficiency, a current medical certificate, and strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The First Officer must verify that takeoff, approach, and landing phases are conducted under weather conditions no lower than the minima established for the airport in use, except in an emergency when the Pilot in Command may exercise judgement.
- The role includes ensuring that flight instruments and equipment, emergency equipment, survival equipment, and safety equipment on board are accessible and in perfect working order.
- The First Officer must complete the navigation portion of the operational flight plan to monitor the progress of the operation and ensure that the flight complies with current AAC provisions and regulations.
- If a situation threatens the safety of the aircraft or its occupants, the Pilot in Command may take the measures considered most appropriate in the interest of flight safety, even if they depart from current provisions.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a commercial pilot licence with instrument and land multi-engine flight ratings.
- They must provide a copy of the last three logbook pages sealed by the AAC, demonstrate bilingual English and Spanish proficiency at a minimum of Level 4 in oral and written communication certified by the AAC, and hold a current medical fitness certificate.
- The role also requires excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, together with the willingness and availability to dedicate the time required during the selection process.
