About This Role
Canadian North is recruiting safety-focused, customer-oriented Boeing 737 First Officers for full-time permanent positions based in Ottawa or Calgary. The role supports essential passenger and cargo services connecting Canada's North with southern gateways including Edmonton and Ottawa. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the First Officer assists the Captain with safe, efficient and compliant aircraft operations while contributing to professional flight-deck teamwork, customer service and the airline's mission of connecting northern communities, businesses and organizations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain in the safe operation of Boeing 737 aircraft in accordance with Canadian North policies, standard operating procedures and Transport Canada regulations. Conduct thorough flight planning, fuel planning and operational risk assessments
- follow all safety and security procedures
- maintain situational awareness
- and apply threat and error management and crew resource management principles. Complete required flight documentation accurately and professionally, provide exceptional customer service while representing Canadian North's values and culture, participate in recurrent training, proficiency checks and company safety initiatives, and support a positive, collaborative flight-deck environment.

Requirements
- Minimum qualifications include 1,500 hours of total flight time
- a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), or a Commercial Pilot Licence with IATRA or ATPL examinations
- a valid Category 1 Medical Certificate
- and a Group 1 Instrument Rating. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, hold a current valid Canadian passport, and have all required visas or travel documents permitting unrestricted travel. They must meet Transport Canada's English-language proficiency requirements, demonstrate strong communication, teamwork and decision-making skills, and be able to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card under Transport Canada's Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program. Preferred qualifications include previous transport-category aircraft experience under CARs Subpart 705, multi-crew and multi-engine turbine experience, and experience operating in northern, remote or challenging weather environments. The ability to communicate in Inuktut is considered a definite asset.
