About This Role
Perimeter Aviation LP, established in 1960 and now a subsidiary of Exchange Income Corporation (recently grown through its merger with Bearskin Airlines), is a diversified Canadian carrier with roughly 900 employees and a fleet of 45+ aircraft including the Metro 2, 3, 23, Merlin and Dash 8. Operating from bases in Winnipeg and Thompson, Manitoba and across Sioux Lookout, Timmins, Thunder Bay and Toronto in Ontario, it provides scheduled passenger and freight service to Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario, 24/7 North American charter, medical evacuation, and a full-service maintenance facility. This Thompson-based role is for a Dash 8 (DHC-8) Captain operating under Canadian Aviation Regulations Part 705, reporting to the Assistant Chief Pilot. The Captain's first priority is to conduct each flight safely while considering passenger comfort and on-time performance, carrying thousands of passengers each year across the northern network.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct flights with strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures, Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aircraft Flight Manual and Company Operations Manual.
- Check weather and all applicable NOTAMs where available and determine fuel and oil requirements.
- Calculate the aircraft weight and balance.
- Review, amend and accept the Operational Flight Plan (Type B 705 operation).
- Complete an aircraft pre-flight inspection before each departure.
- Load, unload and secure cargo/freight as required.
- Complete flight watch jointly with the flight dispatcher (Type B 705 operation).
- Complete all post-flight duties, including notifying and confirming to the company the whereabouts of the aircraft when away from base, and recording flight times and any defects.
- Continue to meet and exceed the Transport Canada qualification standards for a pilot, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- the ability to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- a Category 1 Medical
- a current Group 1 Instrument Rating
- and an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) with 500 hours on the DHC-8. Previous airline experience is considered an asset, as is Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training. Pilots must be fluent in English and able to demonstrate effective verbal and listening comprehension.
