About This Role
Perimeter Aviation LP, a Canadian regional carrier established in 1960 and now part of Exchange Income Corporation following its merger with Bearskin Airlines, is hiring a Dash 8 Captain (CAR 705 pilot-in-command). With around 900 employees and a fleet of 45+ aircraft (Metro 2/3/23, Merlin and Dash 8), the airline operates scheduled passenger and freight service to Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario, 24/7 North American charter, and medical evacuation flights, plus a full-service maintenance facility, from bases in Manitoba (Winnipeg, Thompson) and Ontario. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Pilot, the Captain commands Dash 8 flights that carry thousands of passengers each year, with flight safety, passenger comfort and on-time performance as the top priorities. The role spans several network bases and involves flying to remote Northern and First Nations communities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Command flights in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, the Canadian Aviation Regulations, the Aircraft Flight Manual and the Company Operations Manual. Check weather and all applicable NOTAMs where available and determine fuel and oil requirements
- calculate the aircraft weight and balance
- and review, amend and accept the Operational Flight Plan (Type B, CAR 705 operation). Complete a full pre-flight inspection before every departure, and load, unload and secure cargo/freight as required. Conduct flight watch jointly with the flight dispatcher (Type B 705 operation). Carry out all post-flight duties, including notifying and confirming to the company the aircraft's whereabouts when away from base and recording flight times and any defects. Continue to meet and exceed Transport Canada qualification standards for a pilot, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Candidates must hold a Category 1 Medical and a current Group 1 Instrument Rating, and must be able to obtain and maintain applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations. An Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) with 500 hours on the DHC-8 is preferred, and previous airline experience is considered an asset. Pilots must be fluent in English with effective verbal and listening comprehension
