About This Role

Duties & Responsibilities
- Exercise Captain's authority from reporting for the flight until handover of the aircraft at the end of the trip, ensuring operational safety, regulatory compliance and continuity of operations, and representing the company before passengers, crew and authorities in line with the Código Brasileiro de Aeronáutica (CBA)
- Exercise full authority over the aircraft, crew, passengers and cargo throughout the operation
- Refuse an aircraft that is not in airworthy condition
- Delay, suspend or terminate the flight when indispensable to safety
- Refuse boarding or order offloading of persons who compromise safety or discipline on board
- Act on unlawful-interference (AVSEC) occurrences, maintaining communication with control agencies, and contract extraordinary maintenance when necessary
- Guarantee the safety of crew, passengers and cargo from door closing to final disembarkation, and assure airworthiness, weight and balance conditions
- Verify correct fuel quantity and monitor its consumption
- Assess weather conditions, NOTAMs and aerodromes, and ensure the flight is properly dispatched with the DOV
- Ensure compliance with the air operator safety programme, report unsafe conditions to control agencies and Safety, and report operational hazards through the official company system
- Ensure technical and disciplinary subordination of the crew, delegate duties except those related to flight safety, define the Pilot Flying and ensure correct checklist execution
- Ensure only essential activities are performed during critical phases of flight, and enforce professional regulations on duty, rest and operational limits
- Complete or ensure correct completion of the Diário de Bordo and the aircraft technical report, recording occurrences requiring mandatory inspection such as hard landings, severe turbulence, tail strike, RTO, lightning strike and exceedance of operational limits
- Ensure recording of on-board occurrences including medical events, births and deaths, and compliance with SGSO safety directives and the environmental policy
- Ensure transmission of safety instructions, compliance with cabin safety rules in normal, emergency and evacuation situations, flight-deck integrity and security, and correct use of emergency equipment.
Requirements
- Completed secondary education — Ensino Médio completo (higher education, Ensino Superior, is stated as a differential, not a requirement)
- 5 years of experience in the role and on the A330 aircraft — 'Experiência de 5 anos na função e na aeronave A330'
- Brazilian airline transport pilot licence — Licença de Piloto de Linha Aérea (PLA)
- Valid Airbus A330 type rating — Certificado de Habilitação Técnica (CHT) válida para o Airbus A330
- Valid aeronautical medical certificate — Certificado Médico Aeronáutico (CMA) válido
- Brazilian passport valid for more than 6 months
- Valid US B1, B2 and D visas
- Applicable aviation regulation knowledge — RBAC 121 and CBA
- Safety management system knowledge — Sistema de Gerenciamento de Segurança Operacional (SGSO)
- A330 operational procedures
- Widebody aircraft and long-haul flight operations
- ICAO English language proficiency level 4 or above
