About This Role
Jet Access is seeking a Chief Pilot for its family-owned private aviation and charter business, reporting to the Director of Operations. The posting lists Fishers, IN or Hybrid/Travelling, although the role section describes an on-site administrative and leadership position based in Fishers. The Chief Pilot owns pilot standards, safety, standardization, communication, morale, utilization, rest, development, staffing, qualification, and the future capacity of the pilot group, while Assistant Chief Pilots handle routine tactical support. Flying continues on a limited support schedule to maintain qualification and firsthand visibility into standardization, and is not intended to cover crew shortages. The position also carries Part 135 compliance and operational-control responsibilities, aircraft documentation and checklist/EFB standards, crew planning, systems adoption across ForeFlight, Avianis, MySky, Vocus, and Web Manuals, senior-leadership reporting, and responsiveness when 24/7 charter operations require it.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Assistant Chief Pilots, holding them accountable for tactical leadership of assigned pilot groups and fleet segments. Own hiring, promotion, qualification, performance, and discipline outcomes for the pilot group

- and develop future Assistant Chief Pilots, check airmen, and pilot instructors. Own department-wide pilot-organization health and standardization, including communication, morale, utilization, rest, quality of life, operating standards, type currency, and safety-trend action through the Event Review Committee. Ensure aircraft have standardized and correctly documented operating environments, current manuals and checklists, accurate EFB content, and reachable pilot information, while maintaining compliance with company policy, Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, maintenance and airworthiness requirements, and Part 135 manuals. Exercise authorized operational control, including the authority to initiate, conduct, divert, or terminate flights, and ensure flight, duty, and rest records are complete and compliant. Maintain thirty-, sixty-, ninety-, and one-hundred-eighty-day views of staffing, training, PTO, qualifications, fleet, and quality-of-life exposure
- coordinate with Training and the Operational Control Center
- support recruiting, selection, onboarding, crew planning, and organizational development
- and act on weekly Assistant Chief Pilot health reports. Own effective adoption of EFB, ForeFlight, Avianis, MySky, Vocus, and Web Manuals, remove recurring pilot-facing friction, report crew performance, operational risk, and workforce trends to leadership, complete special projects, participate in Level 10 and EOS rhythms, and remain available when 24/7 charter operations require it.

Requirements
- Required qualifications include an ATP certificate with 5,000 hours of total flying time and 3,000 hours of total pilot-in-command time
- three years as pilot-in-command in Part 121 or Part 135 operations
- prior Chief Pilot or Director of Operations experience in a Part 135 operation
- and prior experience leading a pilot group of twenty-five or more while supporting accountability, development, and retention. Candidates must have a type rating and currency in an aircraft on the Jet Access fleet, or the ability to obtain and maintain one sufficient for pilot-in-command duties, pilot evaluations, and line checks. The role calls for full working knowledge of aviation standards and safe operating practices, 14 CFR Chapter 1, Operations Specifications, maintenance and airworthiness requirements, and the manual required by 14 CFR 135.21. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the greater Indianapolis area, pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening, align deeply with Jet Access core values, maintain an active FAA medical certificate and all required currency, be physically able to perform flight duties, travel occasionally, and hold a valid state driver's license. The FAA Safety Sensitive designation requires DOT and FAA random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment.
