About This Role
Zachry Group is hiring an experienced Captain/Pilot in Command (PIC) for its corporate aviation department in San Antonio, Texas, operating the Citation Sovereign CE-680 in a Part 91 corporate flight-department environment. The Captain is the final authority for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of company aircraft and provides exceptional service to executive passengers. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, safety, sound aeronautical decision-making, leadership, professionalism, discretion, and effective teamwork in a small flight department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as Pilot in Command and retain final authority for the safe and compliant operation of company aircraft
- plan, brief, and execute flights in accordance with FAA regulations, company policies, and aircraft limitations
- ensure all required aircraft documentation, certifications, and operational materials are onboard before departure
- evaluate weather conditions, airport information, aircraft performance, and operational risks
- exercise authority to delay, cancel, or divert flights when safety or operational conditions require
- direct and coordinate the First Officer and flight crew to support effective Crew Resource Management (CRM)
- adhere strictly to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Management System (SMS) policies
- participate in developing and continuously improving departmental safety initiatives
- provide professional and discreet executive passenger service
- assist with baggage handling and other travel needs
- maintain required training, licenses, certifications, and currency under regulatory and company requirements
- collaborate within the small professional aviation team
- and perform additional duties or operational assignments as directed by the Chief Pilot or Aviation Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications include an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine privileges, a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate, a Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit, a valid U.S.
- Passport with the ability to travel internationally, a valid driver's license, and English language proficiency.
- Required flight experience is 3,000 hours total flight time, 1,500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC), 150 hours instrument, 300 hours night, and 1,000 hours turbine time.
- Candidates must have experience operating multi-crew aircraft, current or previous qualification in turbojet aircraft, and clean FAA, DOT, and DOJ records with no violations or deviations within the past seven years.
- They must be able to reside within one hour of San Antonio International Airport (KSAT) or relocate accordingly, travel frequently with domestic and occasional international travel, and work weekends and holidays when operational needs require.
- Preferred qualifications are a Citation Sovereign (CE-680) type rating, a minimum of three years of corporate aviation experience, and a bachelor's degree.
- The work includes corporate offices, hangars, and airport facilities, with occasional visits to operational or construction project locations and variable noise levels.
- Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods during flight operations, working in confined cockpit environments, lifting up to 50 pounds to assist with passenger baggage, and communicating effectively via radio, telephone, email, and operational software systems.
