About This Role
Gilead Sciences' corporate flight department is hiring a Captain (Pilot in Command) for its large-cabin business jet operation based near San Jose, CA. The Captain holds final authority for the safe, compliant, and efficient conduct of domestic and international missions transporting company executives and guests, leads assigned flight crews, and supports the department's Safety Management System (SMS). The role requires an FAA ATP, a First Class Medical, and 5,000 hours total time including 3,000 PIC and 2,000 multi-engine turbine.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as Pilot in Command (PIC), exercising final authority and responsibility for the safe operation of assigned aircraft.
- Conduct domestic and international flight operations in full compliance with company policies, FAA regulations, and applicable international aviation requirements.
- Supervise, mentor, and lead assigned flight crew members while promoting effective Crew Resource Management (CRM) and a positive safety culture.
- Plan and oversee all aspects of flight preparation, including flight planning, aircraft performance analysis, weather evaluation, fuel planning, aircraft readiness, required publications and onboard equipment, customs/immigration/permits and international operating requirements, and airport and runway suitability.
- Ensure all required flight documentation is complete, accurate, and current prior to departure.
- Participate in the department's Safety Management System (SMS), including hazard identification, safety reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We Offer
The salary range for this position is $243,100.00 - $314,600.00.This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years' Experience OR Master's Degree and Six Years' Experience.
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate required.
- Current type rating in at least one aircraft operated by the Gilead Flight Department, or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate required.
- Flight experience with 5,000 hours total flight time AND 3,000 hours Pilot in Command AND 2,000 hours multi-engine turbine Gulfstream experience.
- Currently reside within 2.5 hrs of San Jose, CA or be willing to relocate.
