About This Role
CSA Air is recruiting a Captain (Pilot in Command) to fly the Cessna 208 (CE-208) within its Flight Operations unit, reporting to the Chief Pilot. The Captain holds command authority and command responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant conduct of each flight under FAR Part 135 and the operator's Operations Specifications. Duties span preflight planning, weather assessment, securing a flight release from Flight Following, filing flight plans, verifying fuel/oil/oxygen and an accurate weight-and-balance, checklist discipline, and full in-flight decision-making including initiation, continuation, diversion and termination of the flight. Applicants must hold the appropriate licenses and flight time to command the CE-208, with 1,200 hours total time and 800 hours pilot-in-command, an FAA Second-Class Medical, and residence within 45 miles of the assigned airport. This is a full-time position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- As Pilot in Command of the CE-208, the Captain exercises command authority and command responsibility and is responsible for preflight planning and operating each flight in compliance with FAR Part 135 and the Operations Specifications. Responsibilities include: ensuring proper uniform, licensing and possession of required documents for the flight
- approving all flight paperwork, forms and reports required by the FAA and company for accuracy and proper routing
- verifying the aircraft flight log's maintenance-due items
- confirming the aircraft is properly closed and secured and that current charts, maps, en-route and approach plates and required equipment are aboard before departure
- conducting a proper pre-flight weather check and coordinating an alternate route or action with Flight Following if conditions are unsatisfactory
- securing a flight release authorization from Flight Following, filing the flight plan and initiating the aircraft flight log
- familiarizing self with and complying with all procedures, limitations, advisories and NOTAMs
- operating the aircraft within prescribed limits and weight requirements with correct and sufficient fuel, oil, oxygen and other fluids, accurate signed weight-and-balance paperwork, and an aircraft free of contaminants
- ensuring no pilot operates carelessly or recklessly
- logging all in-flight discrepancies in the aircraft flight log
- making the go/no-go, continuation, diversion and termination decisions in compliance with the FARs, Operations Specifications and company policies
- using all aircraft checklists at all times
- and performing other duties assigned by the Chief Pilot or their representative.
Requirements
- Must hold all appropriate licenses and the flight hours required to command the CE-208 competently: 1,200 hours total time and 800 hours pilot-in-command.
- Must hold an FAA Second-Class Medical certificate.
- Must live within 45 miles of the assigned airport.
- The Captain must keep current and licensed in all respects with the requirements of FAR Part 135 and the company.
