About This Role
Cape Air is hiring a Captain to fly the Cessna 402 under FAR Part 135 operations, based in Hyannis, MA. The Captain reports directly to the Chief Pilot and is responsible for maintaining a professional, businesslike cockpit environment that supports the safe and efficient conduct of every flight, acting as pilot in command with final authority and responsibility for the aircraft, cargo, crew and passengers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts operations in a safe and professional manner and maintains vigilance during all phases of flight, avoiding unnecessary distractions that would deter safe operation of the aircraft. Assists other company personnel as needed, including loading/unloading and refueling the aircraft after proper training. Ensures the flight crew is adequately rested and in proper dress. Inspects or supervises preflight inspections for mechanical and structural soundness and maintains aircraft/window cleanliness. Ensures required airworthiness inspections are current and the aircraft is properly equipped (charts, fuel, oil, emergency equipment, briefing cards). Supervises the SIC when applicable for proper planning and flight preparation. Plans flight assignments and obtains briefings on weather, NOTAMs and special procedures
- prepares, files and closes flight plans considering altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, fuel, airport facilities and navigational aids. Supervises loading and distribution of cargo, baggage and passengers, verifies weight and balance is within limits, and ensures cargo is properly secured. Operates the aircraft at safe and favorable altitudes considering turbulence, oxygen requirements, medical needs and passenger comfort. Ensures preparation of flight logs and reporting of mechanical irregularities and enroute maintenance. Ensures compliance with FAR 135.265, plus additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- All pilot applicants must meet the basic requirements plus the stated hour minimums for Part 135 operation on the Cessna 402. Certificates and documents required: ATP multi-engine land certificate, First Class Medical, and a valid passport. Flight-time minimums (all required): 1,500 hours total time
- 500 hours cross-country time
- 250 hours pilot-in-command (PIC)
- 100 hours night time
- 75 hours instrument time
- and 50 hours multi-engine time. Captains must be highly knowledgeable of the company manuals, FAA regulations, operations specifications and flight manuals, and must ensure compliance with FAR 135.265.
