About This Role
Etihad Airways is recruiting a Captain to command its growing wide-body operation from Abu Dhabi. The role carries ultimate responsibility for the safe, secure, efficient, and professional conduct of every flight, including technical command of the aircraft, leadership of the flight and cabin crew, and compliance with the airline's operational and safety standards. Captains are expected to support reliable on-time performance, fuel efficiency, environmental responsibility, and the airline's continuing fleet and network expansion. The position also offers opportunities to develop into leadership, training, fleet management, and broader Flight Operations roles.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Captain holds ultimate authority for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of every flight. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of the crew, passengers, cargo, and aircraft
- exercising full command from taxi-out through final engine shutdown
- leading the flight and cabin crew through sound decision-making and effective crew resource management
- operating efficiently and with environmental responsibility in accordance with company fuel and sustainability policies
- and delivering consistent on-time performance in support of Etihad's reliability and guest-satisfaction commitments.
What We Offer

Requirements
- Applicants must satisfy either Criteria A or Criteria B in addition to the general eligibility requirements.
- Criteria A requires a minimum of 7,000 total flying hours, 2,500 PIC hours on jet multi-crew new-generation or EFIS aircraft, including 2,000 hours on wide-body aircraft above 140 tons, and 1,500 PIC hours on any Airbus wide-body FBW or Boeing wide-body aircraft.
- Criteria B requires a minimum of 7,000 total flying hours and 3,000 PIC hours on jet multi-crew new-generation or EFIS aircraft, including 2,500 hours on wide-body aircraft above 140 tons.
- Applicants must have flown an eligible Airbus wide-body FBW or Boeing wide-body aircraft within the last 12 months and hold a type rating on one of those aircraft that remains valid for at least two months at the time of joining.
- They must also hold an unrestricted ATPL and current ICAO ATPL, an unrestricted current Class 1 medical, be under the age of 59 on the joining date, and demonstrate written and verbal English fluency at ICAO Level 4 or better.
