About This Role
Africa World Airlines is recruiting Captains to command its EMB145 regional jet operation. The Captain holds full authority and responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft and for the safety of passengers, crew and cargo throughout the period of command, and reports directly to the Chief Pilot. The role covers the complete flight cycle: pre-flight assessment of weather, aircraft serviceability, mass and balance and emergency equipment; disciplined execution of company standard operating procedures and checklists; command decision-making and clear direction of the crew and passengers in normal and abnormal situations; and full compliance with the rules, laws and regulations of every state in which flights are conducted. Applicants need substantial airline experience - at least 3,000 hours total time with 1,000 hours pilot in command and 2,000 hours on multi-crew turboprop or jet aircraft - together with a valid ICAO ATPL with EMB145 type rating or a valid Ghana ATPL, a current Class 1 medical certificate and ICAO Level 4 English. The airline also applies strict background standards: a clean incident and accident record, no criminal history (with notarised proof of good conduct from the home country for non-Ghanaian applicants), and a reference letter from the current or previous employer or civil aviation authority. Beyond technical skill, the airline is looking for command presence - the ability to think quickly and stay calm under pressure, to issue clear and confident instructions, to inspire confidence in both passengers and crew, and to maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct and appearance as a representative of Africa World Airlines.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the safe operation of the aeroplane and the safety of its occupants and cargo during flight. Give the commands necessary to secure the safety of the aeroplane and of the persons or property carried in it
- all persons carried on board must obey those commands. Ensure that all operational procedures and checklists are complied with in accordance with the company's Operations Manuals. Ensure that the weather forecasts and reports for the proposed operating area and flight duration indicate that the flight can be conducted without infringing company operating minima. Take all reasonable steps to ensure that the aeroplane and any required equipment are serviceable, and that the relevant emergency equipment is serviceable and ready for use. Take all reasonable steps to ensure that aircraft mass and balance are within the calculated limits for the operating conditions. Ensure completion of all pertinent flight records and compliance with checklists. Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with the rules, laws and regulations of the states in which flights are conducted. Maintain a high personal standard of discipline, conduct and appearance as a representative of Africa World Airlines at all times. Requirements
- Qualifications and experience: a minimum of 3,000 hours total flying time, including 1,000 hours pilot in command (PIC) and at least 2,000 hours flying multi-crew turboprop or jet aircraft. A valid ICAO ATPL with EMB145 type rating, or a valid Ghana ATPL. A valid passport. A valid and current Class 1 medical certificate. No history of incidents or accidents. A letter from your current or previous employer or from the civil aviation authority must be provided. Minimum ICAO Level 4 English language proficiency. No criminal history
