About This Role
C-17 Pilot Instructor at FlightSafety International, delivering Air Mobility Command Training System ground and simulator training at Altus AFB, Oklahoma. The instructor uses the Weapon System Trainer, C-17 aircraft and computer-based trainers for air drop, aerial refueling and tactics instruction, with occasional WST flying and observer-status aircraft duties to maintain currency. The role requires a bachelor's degree, substantial C-17 flying and instructor experience, and the required security clearance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts ground-based training using the Weapon System Trainer, C-17 aircraft and Computer-Based Trainers for C-17 Training System pilots in air drop, aerial refueling and transport operating procedures. Conducts briefings and debriefings, counsels pilots, monitors progress, performs training administration and courseware updates, and maintains instructional expertise. Flies the WST as required and flies on the airplane as required in observer status to maintain currency. Serves as C-17 Pilot Subject Matter Expert, Flight Check Airman and CCAF Evaluator, and performs SIMCERT or SIMVAL, safety, security, HAZMAT and related duties when assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required. Eight years flying experience, five years of which as a C-17 pilot with air drop and aerial refueling experience, or the ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver. Two years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics. Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience and CATS MECOC certification are desired. The role requires fluency in English, instructional-principles knowledge, and an active SECRET security clearance.
