About This Role
Ascent Flight Training is recruiting experienced Qualified Flying Instructors for the Basic Flying Training (BFT) Squadron at RAF Valley. This role involves delivering world-class ground school and synthetic training to military and Ascent aircrew on the Texan T1, combining classroom instruction, simulator training, and airborne instruction. The position requires previous military flying instructor experience with RAF Central Flying School qualifications. Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct ground-based instruction of military BFT Student Qualified Flying Instructors and ab-initio pilots
- Deliver instruction in accordance with BFT syllabuses including conversion, instrument, navigation, weapon profiles, and tactical training
- Conduct Computer Based Training, Computer Aided Instruction, and Simulator training
- Deliver airborne instruction to high standards
- Provide phase briefs, technical lessons, practical demonstrations, and synthetic events
- Assist in currency training for existing QFIs
- Assist Curriculum Design as Texan T1 Subject Matter Expert in development and maintenance of BFT courseware
- Conduct other Texan T1 training tasks as directed
- Participate in innovation work for the future of UK MFTS

Requirements
- Previous experience as a Qualified Flying Instructor in military environment
- Qualifications or recommendations from RAF Central Flying School essential
- Previous experience in Basic Flying Training on turbo-prop airframe advantageous
- Experience with synthetic training devices beneficial
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Experience with multi-faceted flying disciplines
- Strong presentational skills
- Ability to develop and update courseware
- Full engagement with RAF Safety Culture
- Experience working collaboratively with other teams
