About This Role
Ascend Airways is launching a UK AOC ACMI operation with a small Boeing 737 NG and MAX fleet and its first operational base at London Gatwick. The Captain role reports to the Director of Flight Operations and offers the opportunity to help establish the new airline, which is part of the Avia Solutions Group project and advertises career advancement as it grows. The operation includes busy summer flying, quieter winter rosters, night-stopping, and occasional winter periods of up to two weeks away from base, with additional winter time off possible.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Captains will report to the Director of Flight Operations and play a key part in the launch of the new airline.
- The role forms part of Ascend Airways' Boeing 737 NG and MAX ACMI operation based at London Gatwick.
- Flying will include night-stopping and occasional longer periods of up to two weeks away from base during the winter season.
- The posting anticipates busy summer months and quieter winter rosters, with pilots able to take additional time off during winter to suit their lifestyle.
What We Offer
The package includes a £120,000 salary, £18.90 flight pay per block hour, a 6% contribution of salary to pension, Loss of Licence Insurance, career progression opportunities, paid parking at base, and paid aviation medical examinations.The listed Full Time Captain terms include a maximum of eight days' leave between 1 June and 15 September, a minimum of 10 days off per month, 42 days of annual holiday, and three guaranteed golden days off at base each year.The separate Full Time Captain 20/10 option offers commuting within the EU, accommodation and per diem while on duty, economy-class flights on the first and last day of duty, 24 days of annual holiday, and 10 days off per month.Ascend Airways also describes a continuous professional development programme and the opportunity to join a well-funded project with an expert senior management team.
Requirements
- Applicants must have an unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom, a Class One medical certificate without restrictions other than for spectacles or contact lenses, strong communication and interpersonal skills, a home address within 90 minutes' travelling time of London Gatwick, and ICAO ELP at minimum Level 5. Captains must hold a Boeing 737 type rating that is current or expired by no more than two years, at least 3,000 hours of total flying time, and at least 500 hours in command on Boeing 737 aircraft. A UK ATPL and medical are preferred. EASA ATPL Captains may apply, but successful EASA candidates must convert to a UK licence before joining
