About This Role
Uganda Airlines is recruiting a B737 Captain for its Flight Operations department. Designated for each flight, the Captain has final authority over aircraft operation and is accountable for the safety, security and conduct of the flight, including the aircraft, passengers, crew and cargo, while supervising the other crew members. The role combines command responsibility with setting and delivering standards, strong team leadership, customer-service orientation, cultural awareness and a focus on quality and on-time performance. It reports to the Chief Pilot and requires substantial, recent B737NG/MAX command experience together with willingness to relocate and be based in Uganda.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Captain is designated for each flight under Uganda Airlines operations and, while on duty, is in charge of the flight's safety, security and conduct. The Captain supervises all actions and activities of the other crew members on that flight. As PIC, the Captain exercises final authority over aircraft operation and must take all measures required for safety during every phase of flight, protecting the aircraft, passengers, crew and cargo. The PIC may apply greater safety margins than the Company's normal-operation minima, including higher aerodrome operating minima, fuel reserves and terrain clearance. Responsibility extends from when the aeroplane is ready to move for take-off until it comes to rest at the end of the flight and the primary propulsion engines are shut down, or the aircraft is parked, locked and sealed
- no undue influence should be exerted over the PIC in carrying out these safety and security responsibilities. The role also carries responsibility for setting and delivering standards and reports to the Chief Pilot in Flight Operations.
Requirements
- Candidates must hold a valid ATPL and IR and a Class 1 Medical. The qualification requires 5,000 hours of flying experience, including 2,000 hours of jet time, and 1,500 hours as PIC on the B737NG/MAX. Candidates must have flown the B737NG/MAX within the six months preceding the application date, have no accident or incident record, have no criminal record, and demonstrate English language proficiency at Level 4 minimum. The competency profile calls for five or more years of airline experience in a similar role

Designated instructors and training captains must have a minimum of 500 instructional hours on type. The candidate must be willing to relocate and be based in Uganda.
