About This Role
The Assistant Chief Pilot reports directly to GoJet Airlines' Chief Pilot and assumes the Chief Pilot's duties during the Chief Pilot's absence. This FAA Part 121 leadership role is responsible for promoting safe and secure aircraft operations, supporting the company's Safety Management System, maintaining regulatory and operational information for flight crewmembers, ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations and company procedures, and helping maintain pilot technical competence and line qualification.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Assistant Chief Pilot reports to the Chief Pilot, remains alert to opportunities to improve safety, and is authorized to complete interdepartmental procedures requiring the Chief Pilot's involvement. When the Chief Pilot is absent, the Assistant Chief Pilot assumes the Chief Pilot's duties. Responsibilities include ensuring that safety and security are the first considerations in aircraft operations

- implementing, maintaining, developing, and integrating the company's Safety Management System
- and performing assigned SMS Facilitator duties. The role applies Safety Risk Management when implementing new systems, revising existing systems, developing operational procedures, or identifying hazards and ineffective risk controls through the Safety Assurance process. The Assistant Chief Pilot ensures flight operations comply with applicable parts of 14 CFR, TSRs, and company policies and procedures. In conjunction with the Chief Pilot, the role keeps regulations, the Airman's Information Manual, Operations Bulletins, Read Files, and related materials current and ensures pertinent information is properly distributed to flight crewmembers. Additional responsibilities include helping ensure that each crewmember uses the approved company Weight/Balance Program for revenue flights, ensuring pilots remain attentive to customer requirements, and managing assigned Q-Pulse stages and action items in accordance with 14 CFR Part 5 and the SMSF within the required timeframes.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate ratings for at least one aircraft used in GoJet Airlines' operation and must be qualified through training, experience, and expertise.
- The Assistant Chief Pilot must understand aviation safety standards, safe operating practices, 14 CFR Chapter I, the certificate holder's operations specifications, applicable maintenance and airworthiness requirements under 14 CFR Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121, and the manual required by 14 CFR 121.133.
- The role requires discharging duties in accordance with legal requirements while maintaining safe operations.
- The Assistant Chief Pilot must be rated in at least one type operated by GoJet and, as duties permit, maintain Line Qualification status.
- Continued technical competence requires education and training, including at minimum completion of the ground-training portion of Continuing Qualification in accordance with AQPTM 8-1.2.C.1.
- Attendance at industry meetings and networking with other airline officials may also be required as duties allow.
