About This Role
The Assistant Chief Pilot serves as the operational deputy to the Chief Pilot within Constellation Brands’ flight department. The role combines flight-operations leadership with safety and regulatory oversight, crew development, training coordination, operational standardization, records administration, audit support, and customer-focused executive travel service. When not assigned to flight duty, the position contributes approximately 10–20 hours per week to leadership, safety, training, process improvement, and cross-functional aviation initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Assistant Chief Pilot supports the Chief Pilot in overseeing and executing daily flight operations and serves as operational leader when delegated. Responsibilities include promoting aviation safety
- ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, the Aviation Operations Manual, standard operating procedures, and applicable safety standards
- supporting Safety Management System initiatives, risk management, and incident, accident, hazard, and occurrence reporting
- mentoring pilots and flight crews
- assisting with approved crew-training programs
- monitoring qualifications, certifications, training records, and operational readiness
- supporting pilot onboarding and professional development
- improving procedures and standard operating procedures
- coordinating with Scheduling, Maintenance, and flight-operations stakeholders
- maintaining accurate operational and pilot records
- assisting with audits, inspections, regulatory reviews, and internal projects
- and fostering a safe, seamless, discreet, professional, and service-oriented passenger experience. During non-flying time, approximately 10–20 hours per week is dedicated to department priorities, operational planning, safety initiatives, training materials, pilot readiness, documentation, mentoring, process improvements, audits, and cross-functional coordination.

Requirements
- Candidates must hold a current FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate, at least 4,000 total flight hours including 2,500 hours as Pilot-in-Command, and four to six years of related aviation experience. They must hold at least one jet type rating and have attended approved simulator training in the jet aircraft they are type rated in within the previous 12 months. Additional requirements include the ability to support domestic and international operations while away from home for extended periods, a valid U.S. Passport, a valid Driver’s License, the ability to reside within one hour of Rochester International Airport (KROC), successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening, and demonstrated knowledge of the Aviation Operations Manual, training manuals, standard operating procedures, the company check pilot manual when applicable, and civil aviation regulations and standards. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, an associate degree in Aviation Management, or NBAA Certified Aviation Manager certification
- Gulfstream G280 and/or GVII type rating(s)
- international flight experience
- experience in IS-BAO and/or Safety Management System environments
- and previous flight instruction experience or a Certified Flight Instructor certificate.
