About This Role
The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor supports oversight of Private, Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, CFI, CFII and MEI certificates and ratings within Eastern Kentucky University's collegiate Part 141 program. The role assists with administration and oversight of flight operations and flight-course activities, monitors applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, and helps complete FAA-related paperwork and documentation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor assists with all EKU Aviation flight-training activities as directed, accounting for 40% of the role.
- The position monitors compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations in student training and in the supervision of flight instructors, representing 30% of the duties.
- It provides leadership and guidance to flight instructors for 10% of the role, collects feedback to support reviews and updates of the flight-training program and training materials for another 10%, and assists with scheduling and dispatch for flight students, instructors and training aircraft for 5%.
- The remaining 5% supports office functions through other assigned duties and special projects.

Requirements
- A bachelor's degree and two years of directly related experience are required.
- Applicants must hold Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) and Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) certifications, meet the FAR Part 141 requirements for an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, and possess and maintain a second-class medical certificate.
