About This Role
L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Armed Forces Test Pilot to operate G550 special mission sensor aircraft for experimental flight testing, engineering test flights, and operational support missions. The role is based primarily at the company’s Tulsa, Oklahoma facility, requires extensive flight planning and teamwork, and involves worldwide travel, deployments typically lasting 10–14 days and occasionally up to 30 days or more.
Duties & Responsibilities
- After completing initial indoctrination and training, the pilot will serve as a Co-Captain on unique G550 special mission sensor aircraft operated by Aeromet.
- Duties include conducting experimental and engineering test flights, operational support flights, training, extensive flight planning, and safe aircraft operation in accordance with applicable FAA regulations and DCMA 8210 D requirements.
- The pilot will work as part of a small team, maintain professional standards, support missions worldwide, work assigned shifts including activity outside normal duty hours, travel as required, and remain subject to on-call status with a two-hour recall.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of relevant experience, a Graduate degree with at least 10 years of related experience, or at least 16 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Required qualifications include graduation from the Armed Forces Test Pilot School Full Course, an Airline Transport Pilot Certification, and a valid First-Class FAA medical certificate.
- The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and a Department of War TS/SCI security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include 1,500 hours of PC/PIC time, including 100 hours as PC/PIC on engineering and/or acceptance flights, a multi-engine jet FAA type rating or military equivalent, a clean aviation accident and FAA violation record, no history of suspended or revoked designations or ratings, and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
