About This Role
Hillsboro Aero Academy is hiring part-time Airplane Flight Instructors for its Redmond and Hillsboro, Oregon locations. The role offers opportunities to build substantial flight time in the Pacific Northwest, gain actual IMC experience, work with a diverse aircraft fleet, participate in airline pilot pathways, and pursue growth within a large professional flight-training organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The instructor will perform flight-instructor duties authorized by Federal Aviation Regulations and approved training-course outlines
- promote and comply with the academy’s Safety Management System and company standard operating procedures
- monitor student progress and ensure course standards and training requirements are met
- communicate delays to supervisors
- maintain accurate student-training records
- attend weekly, administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor-development meetings
- determine aircraft airworthiness
- apply effective teaching and evaluation techniques
- reconcile billable-hours reports for biweekly payroll
- communicate with prospective students about flight training
- and perform other assigned duties, including helping fuel aircraft and driving company vehicles.

Requirements
- Applicants must demonstrate aircraft piloting skills, familiarity with FAA Practical Test Standards, and the ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures. The position requires effective classroom and in-flight instructional skills, knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, sound judgment, strong communication and teaching abilities, independent working ability, customer-service skills, confidentiality, and the ability to work in a physically and mentally demanding environment. Instructors must be able to work at least six days per week according to student scheduling needs. Required credentials include a valid FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate and a valid FAA Certified Airplane Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and/or Multi-engine Instructor Rating. Dual-instruction experience in Cessna aircraft and Piper Seminoles is required, while CFII is required and MEI is preferred
