About This Role
Hillsboro Aero Academy is hiring part-time Airplane Flight Instructors to provide flight and classroom instruction while helping students progress through approved training courses. The role offers an opportunity to build substantial flight hours in the Pacific Northwest, including actual IMC experience and exposure to a diverse aircraft fleet. Instructors will work within FAA regulations, approved training course outlines, company SOPs, and the academy's safety management system while supporting student development and customer service. Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations and in accordance with approved training course outlines.
- Ensure compliance with and promote the Hillsboro Aero Academy Safety Management System and company SOPs.
- Maintain satisfactory student progress through assigned courses, ensure course standards and training requirements are met, and communicate delays to a supervisor.
- Accurately maintain all records associated with student training and attend weekly meetings.
- Determine aircraft airworthiness and attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned.
- Maintain and apply effective teaching and evaluation techniques.
- Reconcile billable-hours reports for bi-weekly payroll completion, communicate with potential students about flight training, and perform other assigned duties such as assisting with aircraft fueling and driving company vehicles.

Requirements
- Applicants must demonstrate aircraft piloting skills, familiarity with required flight maneuvers and procedures under FAA Practical Test Standards, and the ability to apply effective instructional techniques in both classroom and flight environments.
- They must understand and apply applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, communicate and teach effectively, exercise sound judgment, work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and provide superior customer service.
- The position requires a high degree of confidentiality and involves physically and mentally demanding work.
- Instructors must be able to work a minimum of six days per week according to student scheduling requirements.
- Required qualifications include a valid FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate and a valid FAA Certified Airplane Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and/or Multi-engine Instructor Rating.
- Dual-instruction experience in Cessna aircraft and Piper Seminoles, as well as multicultural experience, is listed.
