About This Role
Xcel Energy seeks an Aircraft Captain responsible for the safe conduct of assigned flights as Pilot-in-Command, with final authority over aircraft operations under the chief pilot. The captain may also serve as Second-in-Command, oversees aircraft readiness and regulatory compliance, manages flight planning and performance calculations, supervises air and ground crews, supports passenger safety and comfort, completes operational documentation, and maintains required aviation knowledge and proficiency. The role is based in the Denver area and requires residence within two hours of Centennial Airport.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The captain serves as PIC or SIC as assigned and, when serving as SIC, supports the flight operation by assisting the captain. Duties include confirming aircraft airworthiness, completion of maintenance preflight inspections, onboard documentation, and resolution and recording of aircraft discrepancies
- preparing and filing flight plans
- reviewing aircraft weight and balance, fuel, and performance data
- reviewing weather at departure, destination, en-route, and alternate airports
- using checklists and minimum equipment lists
- supervising air and ground crews
- ensuring passenger safety and comfort
- conducting safety briefings covering emergency equipment and evacuation procedures
- completing postflight inspections
- accurately recording flight times and inflight discrepancies
- completing aircraft forms, logs, reports, expense accounts, payroll time, and learning-management requirements
- and maintaining aviation knowledge and proficiency through assigned training and continued self-study.

Requirements
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with a multiengine land rating
- an FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
- required aircraft-specific training
- English proficiency
- a valid automobile driver's license
- a valid passport
- and a current FAA Class 1 or Class 2 medical certificate. They must hold a type rating in the company aircraft or be able to attend factory training, pass the check-ride, and meet FAR 61.58 Pilot Proficiency Exam requirements. Minimum flight experience is 2,000 hours of total fixed-wing time, 500 hours of turbojet time, 1,000 hours logged as Pilot-in-Command, and three years of professional pilot experience. Candidates must understand GOM, SMS, AFM, QRH, and ERP procedures and the standards required for PIC duties, and must demonstrate a strong work ethic, strong customer service, attention to detail, adaptability, accountability, and sound judgment.
