This Berry Aviation, Inc. posting seeks a DHC-8 Aircraft Captain for an OCONUS assignment listed as Africa - San Marcos, TX 78666. The Captain is responsible for end-to-end FAR Part 135 flight preparation and execution, including flight planning, flight releases, airworthiness and MEL checks, preflight risk assessments, route and load-manifest compliance, CRM briefings, and coordination with on-site management. Required qualifications include an FAA multi-engine ATP certificate, current first-class medical, a current U.S. passport, 1,500 PIC time, 500 multi-engine PIC time, Secret-clearance eligibility, and a high school diploma; preferred qualifications include 3,000 total hours, 1,200 multi-engine turbine time, aerial-delivery and NVG experience, an active clearance, and FAR 135 and OCONUS government-contracting experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- As DHC-8 Captain, plan each assigned flight and obtain the purpose, weather, operating procedures, and special instructions
- prepare flight plans using altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise-control data, airport facilities, and navigational aids
- release flights in accordance with FAR Part 135 and ensure all necessary documentation is aboard
- confirm required airworthiness inspections and correction or MEL-compliant deferral of discrepancies
- perform the aircraft preflight and a risk assessment for every flight
- complete assigned flights according to schedules, routes, and load manifests
- ensure crew members use CRM and receive complete briefings on flight-plan changes, passenger or cargo loads, aircraft condition, and the operating environment
- and maintain routine communication with on-site management regarding flight safety, aircraft maintenance, life support, customer concerns, and personnel issues.
Requirements
- The required qualifications are an FAA multi-engine Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, a current FAA First Class Medical, a current U.S. passport with at least six months remaining at all times, 1,500 hours of PIC time, 500 hours of multi-engine PIC time, the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret-level security clearance, and a high school diploma. Preferred qualifications are 3,000 hours of total time
- 1,200 hours of multi-engine turbine time
- aerial delivery experience
- NVG experience
- a current and active U.S. Secret-level clearance
- at least one year of experience as a FAR Part 135 pilot
- and at least one year of government-contracting experience in OCONUS austere environments or locations. Physical requirements include lifting at least 50 pounds, performing aircraft-piloting duties for up to 10 hours per day, and working outside in a wide range of weather, including extreme heat, cold, and adverse conditions.
