About This Role
Amentum is hiring an Air Tactical Pilot to staff an assigned Cal Fire air attack base in McClellan, California. The pilot will serve as Pilot in Command of the assigned air tactical aircraft, coordinate closely with Air Tactical Group Supervisors, respond to dispatches, and be airborne within 15 minutes of notification. The role requires compliance with Cal Fire, Amentum operating, and assigned base procedures while operating on the assigned duty schedule.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Staff the air tactical platform at the assigned Cal Fire base according to the duty schedule.
- Act as Pilot in Command of the assigned Air Tactical aircraft and work in coordination with the assigned Air Tactical Group Supervisors.
- Respond to dispatches as directed and achieve airborne status within 15 minutes of dispatch notification.
- Follow assigned Air Attack Base policies and procedures, all Cal Fire 8300 policies and procedures, and Amentum General Operation Manual requirements.
- Maintain professional conduct consistent with Amentum standards at all times.

Requirements
- Applicants must meet the stated minimum PIC experience requirements: 1,800 hours in airplanes, 800 hours in multi-engine airplanes, 200 hours in mountainous terrain, 75 hours of total instrument time including 50 hours actual instrument time, 100 hours of night time, and 10 hours in the make and model to be flown. In addition, applicants must have one or more of the listed qualifications: 500 hours of aerial firefighting as PIC or co-pilot
- 100 hours in AME aircraft over 6,000 pounds
- 50 hours in AME aircraft over 12,500 pounds
- or 50 hours in AME turbine-powered aircraft. The posting also requires a Class 2 FAA Medical Certificate with an EKG for applicants age 40 and older, and the pilot must reside within 45 minutes of the assigned Air Attack Base.
