About This Role
Boeing Test and Evaluation is hiring an experienced fighter pilot as the Air Dominance Lead Technical Pilot, supporting an Air Dominance / Phantom Works program for Boeing Defense, Space and Security in St. Louis, Missouri. This is explicitly not an active flying position; the lead Technical Pilot provides flight operations, safety and technical support for the development and certification of advanced aircraft and systems. Working inside multidisciplinary teams, the role applies human-engineering principles and tactical-aircraft operating experience to develop and approve procedures, assess pilot-vehicle-interface design on experimental, prototype and production aircraft, and shape test plans and techniques for qualification or certification. As the lead, the pilot also advises, coaches and mentors other Technical Pilots, represents Boeing in internal and external forums, engages regulators at the executive level, supports business development, and consults on accident investigations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the engineering of advanced aircraft and systems and the planning and execution of engineering and experimental test events.
- Provide flight operations, safety and technical support to Boeing stakeholders at multiple levels, and recommend operational techniques for systems and design enhancements.
- Develop and approve new or existing procedures, and research, edit, document and coordinate publication of tactics, techniques and procedures for operating Boeing aircraft.
- Contribute to the development and coordination of test plans, procedures and techniques to achieve qualification or certification while meeting test objectives, and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing and airworthiness personnel on certification efforts to preserve design integrity.
- Advise, coach and mentor other Technical Pilots, represent Boeing as a technical lead in internal and external forums and collaborations, meet with regulatory agencies at the executive level, act as a consultant to senior management and industry professionals, support business development by discussing and demonstrating aircraft and new flight technology, and consult with cross-functional teams during accident investigations and analysis.
- The position is primarily first shift, with possible alternate or weekend shifts, and requires travel up to 20%.

Requirements
- an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required
- a clearance active within the past 24 months counts as active). A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a non-US equivalent related to the work. An FAA Commercial Certificate or FAA ATP with appropriate endorsements, or a military equivalent. Ability to obtain an FAA Second Class Medical certificate. 1,000 flight hours as Pilot in Command of turbine-powered jet aircraft. Test or development experience on 5th- or 6th-generation fighter aircraft. The role must meet U.S. export-control requirements, so a 'U.S. Person' (U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee or asylee) is required, and candidates are subject to drug-free-workplace testing, a conflict-of-interest assessment, and pilot records database screening
Preferred Qualifications
- a Master's degree or higher in Engineering, U.S. DoD Weapons Instructor Course (WIC) graduate, and Test Pilot School (TPS) graduate.
