Aero Air, the parent company of Erickson Aero Tanker, is recruiting experienced pilots for year-round aerial firefighting tanker operations. The posting covers two MD-87 flight-deck assignments: Pilot in Command and Second in Command. USFS Mandatory Assignment Period dates may vary according to aircraft allocations and fire conditions. Duties & Responsibilities
- The roles support Erickson Aero Tanker's year-round aerial firefighting operations and place pilots in either the MD-87 Pilot in Command or Second in Command position.

Requirements
- The posting advertises two MD-87 assignments. For Pilot in Command, applicants need an Airline Transport Pilot or Commercial Certificate with Instrument Rating (Multiengine Land), a current First- or Second-Class medical, at least 4,000 hours of total flight time, 2,000 hours of airplane PIC time, 200 hours of multiengine PIC time, 100 hours of multiengine PIC time in aircraft over 12,500 pounds, 200 hours of low-level time in typical terrain, and 100 hours of PIC time in the preceding 12 months. A heavy jet type rating and previous or current USFS AKP or AKI rating are required
- a current Initial Attack rating and DC-9 type rating are preferred. For MD-87 Second in Command, applicants need the same certificate or license alternative and medical standard, plus at least 1,000 total flight hours, 500 airplane PIC hours and 200 hours of multiengine time. A jet type rating, previous USFS air tanker experience and low-level time are preferred for the SIC assignment. Both positions require a High School Diploma or GED, the listed certifications, a valid U.S. or state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record, a valid U.S. passport, legal authorization to work in the United States, schedule flexibility and ability to travel, successful pre-employment drug and criminal-history screening, reliable and predictable attendance, and compliance with Aero Air policies and standards of conduct.
