About This Role
This on-site position serves as a +4th/5th-generation Pilot SME within the Joint Simulation Environment at Nellis AFB, Nevada. It supports operational, test, and training units by flying modern air-dominance tactics as an adversary in VATs and as a fighter pilot in the F-22/F-35 FIAB, using the F-22 and F-35 simulator at a four-ship flight-lead level. The SME operates simulator and debriefing programs, provides current Air Dominance TTP knowledge and academics for DCA, OCA, and SEAD missions, develops realistic training scenarios, and handles mission planning, briefing, leading, and debriefing.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Fly modern air-dominance tactics as an adversary in VATs and as a fighter pilot in the F-22/F-35 FIAB in support of operational, test, and training units.
- Employ the F-22 and F-35 simulator at a four-ship flight-lead level, and simulate adversary tactics, varying threat levels, and threat aircraft in a flight simulator.
- Operate simulator programs, including the operating-system console and debriefing programs.
- Provide subject-matter expertise and academic support on current TTPs concerning Air Dominance for DCA, OCA, and SEAD missions.
- Develop and execute realistic scenarios for training events, and mission-plan, brief, lead, and debrief as required.
- The position requires flexibility because duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.
Requirements
- Required qualifications include a minimum of 500 hours in a fighter T/M/S aircraft—F-15 EX, F/A-18 E/F, F-22, or F-35—and graduation from the USAF Fighter Weapons Instructor Course, Marine Corps Aviation Weapons and Tactics, Navy TOPGUN, or an Adversary or Aggressor course. A DoD Top Secret security clearance is required. Preferred qualifications include more than 1,000 hours in one of those fighter T/M/S aircraft, experience as a USAF Weapons Instructor Course instructor, TOPGUN instructor, or comparable instructor, deployment within the last two years, and Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) experience. A bachelor's degree from an accredited university is also required. The position is not eligible for remote work
- on-site support is required, and the pilot must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible training-operations schedules.
