About This Role
Airbus Canada is seeking a Type III Pilot Instructor for its A220 commercial aircraft programme and Training Centre in Mirabel, Quebec. The role represents Airbus Canada to customers, operators and authorities, delivering A220 line and simulator training and checking, supporting flight operations projects, and helping customers safely and efficiently enter service with the aircraft. Simulator work is mainly performed in Dorval, while the position also offers opportunities to contribute to standardization, development, project and management activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver the best possible training and checking within Airbus Canada Training according to your qualifications, supporting safe and efficient A220 (BD-500) entry into service and operations.
- Provide training and checking in flight during Initial Operating Experience, in simulators and FSTDs, and in the classroom or an equivalent virtual classroom.
- Conduct A220 line training and line checking, provide simulator training and checking mainly in Dorval, support the TFOS community and undertake office or project activities as required.
- Represent Airbus Canada Training and the manufacturer in front of customers, accompany customers during the flight period to support entry into service and safety, proactively identify potential problems and develop solutions, and act as team leader during IOE by coordinating with Airbus Canada and the airline.
- Carry out standardization, development and management tasks throughout the Airbus Canada career, and maintain and upgrade competencies in line with qualifications.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold an ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License issued by EASA, TCCA or the FAA, a valid EASA TRI, FAA Flight Instructor Aircraft qualification or TCCA Instructor Appointment issued by a Canadian operator on BD-500, and a valid Class 1 medical under the applicable ATPL framework. The position requires an English Language Proficiency Rating of at least 4 and fluent English, as well as Low Visibility Operations and current or previous ETOPS qualifications. Required experience includes at least 5,000 pilot hours, 3,000 hours on large jet aircraft above 50 tonnes MTOW, 1,000 hours as Captain on Airbus aircraft, 500 hours of FFS instructor experience on large aircraft, and 500 hours as a Captain assigned to conduct LIFUS/IOE
- a significant portion of the instructor experience must be oriented toward initial type rating. Candidates must be current and experienced as Captain and Flight Instructor on the BD-500, have significant commercial airline experience, and demonstrate expertise in evidence-based training and competency-based training assessment, together with project-management capability. Examiner experience, management experience and flight-safety experience are assets.
