About This Role
Textron Aviation's 2027 Flight Operations internship is a paid, onsite flight instructor role based in Wichita, Kansas. Interns work as flight and ground-school instructors for the company's flying club members and fellow interns, delivering classroom and in-aircraft instruction on general-aviation company and club aircraft while growing the professional and technical skills needed for an aviation career. The programme is a full-time, roughly 10-week summer experience (typically late May to early August, 40 hours per week) that pairs real hands-on project work with mentorship, training, and development, all conducted within FAA and ICAO regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as a flight and ground-school instructor for club members and interns, conducting classroom instruction and flight training that designs and creates strong aviation experiences.
- Operate company and club aircraft in compliance with all applicable FAA and ICAO regulations and local operating procedures, and maintain a thorough knowledge of the relevant aircraft models, systems, avionics, and equipment.
- Attend training as required and perform office tasks such as answering phones, processing member paperwork, and answering club members' questions.
- Adhere to and support the club's policies, procedures, and guidelines, communicate noteworthy issues to club personnel, and always keep safety as the prime consideration for every operation.

Requirements
- Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or a related field with at least sophomore standing. Required credentials are an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument rating and single-engine land, an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI) and FAA Flight Instructor Instrument Certificate (CFII), and an FAA Second Class medical or better with the ability to obtain an FAA First Class medical. Flight time must include 200 hours PIC, with 50 of those PIC hours flown in the previous 12 months. Additional expected experience: 50 hours of dual instruction given, 25 hours night, 25 hours IMC, a multi-engine land rating, FAA complex and high-performance endorsements, previous classroom experience as a ground instructor, and familiarity with digital/glass flight decks.
