About This Role
FlightSafety International, the world's premier professional aviation training company, is seeking a Simulator Second in Command for their Columbus, Ohio facility. This is an instructor-level position where candidates will serve as competent Second-in-Command pilots for multi-crew aircraft simulator training, providing SIC services to client pilots undergoing recurrent, initial, or generic training courses. The role requires a Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument rating and a minimum of 450 hours total flight time. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced full-flight simulators and aviation professionals from 167 countries, with a focus on maintaining high-quality training standards and professional cockpit operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients training in multi-crew aircraft without a flying partner
  • Serve as a competent SIC without performing instructional duties
  • Maintain SIC pilot qualification in accordance with assigned training programs
  • Maintain SIC qualification per FlightSafety International's Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Keep current all certificates, ratings, and designations required for SIC duties
  • Act as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients
  • Maintain currency in assigned simulator programs
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings
  • Minimum 450 hours total flight time
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Valid pilot certificates, ratings, and designations current and maintained
  • Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with various customers
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations
  • Physical ability to operate simulator controls and exit simulator devices
  • Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds frequently
  • U.S. Person status or eligible for export authorization (ITAR/EAR compliance)
  • May require U.S. Government security clearance eligibility
