About This Role
Spirit Airlines seeks an experienced Senior Flight Operations Instructor to deliver high-quality training for A320 pilots across Initial Qualification, Recurrent, Captain Upgrade, and Requalification programs. The instructor will work in multiple environments including classroom, emergency training facilities, and Level 5 Flight Training Devices at Spirit's training centers in Dallas, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale. Candidates require 5+ years of airline or FAR 121/135 pilot experience, an ATP (preferred) or CPL with instrument and multi-engine ratings, and preferably an A320 type rating. This role offers the opportunity to shape pilot development as a subject matter expert while maintaining Spirit Airlines' FAA-approved training standards, with domestic and international travel under 25% and flexible scheduling.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction for Spirit Airlines pilot Initial Qualification, Recurrent/Continuing Qualifications (CQ), Captain Upgrade, and Requalification curricula
- Conduct training in classroom, emergency training facilities, mockup facilities, and Level 5 Flight Training Devices
- Instruct on A320 normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures, aircraft systems integration, and performance/limitations
- Teach General Subjects, emergency training and drills, crew resource management, leadership, command and mentorship
- Collaborate with training team to identify, develop, and implement effective training methodologies
- Serve as subject matter expert and assist in development and continuous improvement of courseware and training aids
- Maintain strict adherence to Spirit Airlines FAA-approved AQP training syllabus
- Establish and maintain effective communication with applicable stakeholders
- Lead or collaborate in assigned training-related projects or programs
- Support training events at other Spirit Airline Training Centers as needed (DFW, MCO, FLL)
- Complete additional duties or special projects as assigned by Flight Operations Management

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years as an Airline/Aviation instructor preferred
- 5+ years as FAR 121 or 135 pilot or equivalent foreign operation
- ATP license preferred, or Commercial certificate with instrument and multi-engine ratings
- A320 Type Rating preferred or equivalent type
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Ability to work flexible schedule as needed by training requirements
- Available to travel domestically and internationally (under 25% of time)
- Able to exert up to 25 lbs of force occasionally
- Valid medical certification implied for FAR 121/135 experience
