About This Role
Part-time Simulator Second in Command position with FlightSafety International in Lutz (Tampa area), Florida. The role provides a qualified 'Second-in-Command' for customer pilots who come to multi-crew aircraft training — recurrent, initial, or generic courses — without a flying partner. In this capacity the postholder serves as a competent co-pilot in the simulator and explicitly does not perform instructional duties. FlightSafety International is a leading professional aviation training company operating full-flight simulators at Learning Centers across the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom. The successful candidate must hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate with the appropriate category, class and instrument ratings and at least 450 flight hours, and must maintain SIC currency for the assigned programs under the company's Quality Management System.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who arrive without a flying partner, serving as a competent SIC and not performing instructional duties.
- Maintain SIC pilot qualification in line with the requirements of the assigned programs and with FlightSafety International's Quality Management System (QMS) processes and procedures.
- Keep all certificates, ratings and designations required to perform SIC duties current.
- Act as SIC across various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135 and non-FAA clients as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior to SIC duties the applicant must already hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate with the appropriate category, class and instrument ratings, and a minimum of 450 flight hours. English fluency in both speech and writing (speak, understand, read and write), with excellent cockpit verbal communication skills
- ability to interact professionally with a range of customers and to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations. A second language may be required at some Learning Centers. Candidates must meet the physical demands of operating a full-flight simulator, including manipulating the rudder/anti-torque controls with both feet, operating simulator controls, and entering and exiting the device (including from a severely pitched attitude). Employment is contingent on export-control eligibility (ITAR/EAR), including qualifying as a 'U.S. Person' or otherwise obtaining export authorization, and the role may require eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
