About This Role
FlightSafety International, a leading professional aviation training company and supplier of full-flight simulators, is hiring a Simulator Second in Command based in Lafayette, Louisiana. The role exists to maintain currency in assigned programs so the holder can act as Second-in-Command for both internal and external customer pilots during Recurrent, Initial, or generic training courses within the established training curriculum. This is a non-instructional flying role: the SIC serves as a competent crew partner for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who arrive without a flying partner, operating simulator flight controls rather than delivering instruction.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who have come to training without a flying partner, serving as a competent second crew member and not performing instructional duties.
- Maintain SIC pilot qualification in accordance with the requirements of the programs to which the holder is assigned, and maintain SIC qualification in line with FlightSafety International's Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures.
- Keep current all certificates, ratings and designations required to perform SIC duties.
- Act as SIC in various types of aircraft for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.
Requirements
- Minimum education: high school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience) with two to three years of related experience and/or training. Minimum experience: the applicant must hold, prior to starting an SIC assignment, a Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class and instrument ratings and a minimum of 450 hours. Must be fluent in English (speaking, understanding, reading and writing) with excellent cockpit verbal communication skills, able to interact professionally with a range of customers and to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations
- a second language may be required at some Learning Centers. The ideal candidate will reside in the Lafayette, LA area. Physically, the role requires the range of motion to reach and manipulate the rudder/anti-torque controls with both feet, operate the numerous simulator controls, enter and exit the simulator via the provided ramp, and exit a malfunctioned simulator while it is in a severely pitched attitude, plus the stated vision requirements and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and 25 pounds frequently. Employment is contingent on qualifying as a "U.S. Person" (or otherwise being eligible for export authorization) under ITAR/EAR and on passing OFAC compliance reviews
