About This Role
FlightSafety International is a professional aviation training company that provides pilot, technician, and aviation-professional training using a large fleet of advanced full-flight simulators. The Simulator Second in Command maintains currency and program qualifications to serve as a competent SIC for internal and external customer pilots attending recurrent, initial, or generic training courses. The role supports multi-crew simulator training while specifically serving as a flight-deck crewmember rather than an instructor.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Simulator Second in Command acts as SIC for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who arrive without a flying partner.
- The role provides competent Second-in-Command support during recurrent, initial, or generic training within the established curriculum and does not perform instructional duties.
- Responsibilities include maintaining SIC pilot qualification under the requirements of assigned programs, maintaining qualification under FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems processes and procedures, keeping all certificates, ratings, and designations current, and serving as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.
Requirements
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, together with two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Before beginning an SIC assignment, the applicant must hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate with the appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings and must have a minimum of 450 flight hours. The role requires fluent spoken and written English, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write, as well as excellent cockpit verbal communication skills. Candidates must be able to interact professionally with customers and adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations
- a second language may be required at some Learning Centers. The position also requires the physical ability to operate simulator controls with both feet and hands, enter and exit the simulator using a ramp, and exit a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude. Required visual capabilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds. Employment is subject to compliance reviews, including OFAC sanctions screening, and the position may require eligibility to access export-controlled technology under ITAR/EAR rules and to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
