About This Role
Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Research Pilot to operate the U-2 and other NASA aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base, California. This is a permanent government contractor position supporting NASA's Aeronautics Research Center. Candidates must have a minimum of 1,500 hours PIC, a current CPL with instrument and multiengine ratings, and U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance. Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct full-time pilot duties on ER-2 (U-2) aircraft
- Operate variety of NASA aircraft including Gulfstream III/IV, Beechcraft King Air, C-20A, F-18 A/B, F-15 B/D, RQ-4 Global Hawk, T-34C, TG-14
- Create, maintain and update flight briefings and statistical reporting
- Provide direct support to NASA AFRC staff as required
- Maintain currency on assigned aircraft

Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required
- Able to obtain and maintain U.S. Security clearance at Secret level
- FAA Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with Instrument (IR), Multiengine (ME), and Single Engine Land ratings
- Minimum 1,500 hours pilot in command (PIC)
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university in engineering, physical science, life science, or mathematics
- Current U.S. passport valid through period of employment
- Pass random drug screening
- Pass NASA Flight Medical Certification
- Pass DoD SECRET security clearance investigation
- COVID-19 vaccination where permitted by applicable law
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and safety procedures
- Ability to write technical reports and relay data
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Knowledge of shop mathematics
- Formal military training (DD 214) or civilian equivalent experience (Highly Desired)
- Minimum 1,000 hours U-2 experience and current U-2 pilot within past two years (Highly Desired)
