About This Role
Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Research Pilot to operate the U-2 (ER-2) and other NASA aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base in California. This is a permanent government contractor position supporting NASA Aeronautics Research Center Flight Crew operations. Candidates must have a minimum of 1,500 hours PIC, FAA Commercial Pilot License with instrument and multiengine ratings, and hold or be able to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required). Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct full-time pilot duties on ER-2 (U-2) aircraft
- Operate variety of NASA aircraft as assigned including Gulfstream III, Gulfstream IV, Beechcraft King Air, C-20A, F-18 A/B, F-15 B/D, RQ-4 Global Hawk, T-34C, TG-14
- Create, maintain and update briefings and statistical reporting
- Provide direct support to NASA AFRC staff as required
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight operations

Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret security clearance
- Minimum 1,500 hours pilot in command (PIC) time
- FAA Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with Instrument, Multiengine, and Single Engine Land ratings, OR equivalent military pilot and instrument rating
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Current U.S. passport valid through employment period
- Bachelor's degree or higher from accredited university in engineering, physical science, life science, or mathematics
- U-2 type rating required
- COVID-19 vaccination where permitted by applicable law
- Pass random drug screenings
- Pass NASA Flight Medical Certification
- Must be able to pass security clearance investigation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and procedures
- Ability to write clearly and relay data and information
- Ability to perform shop math
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
